ORNATELY CARVED/DECORATED MAH-JONG, BONE & BAMBOO TILES C.1920

Superb carved, painted and decorated wooden five-drawer Mah-Jong set made in China for the European export market. Decorated to all four facias, ad well as to top which has a carved wooden handle of two characters back-to-back. The front facia is the lift-out lid revealing five drawers which are complete with all 148 bone and bamboo tiles, one-third bone to bamboo (including 4 spares) Also includes the circular bone wind indicator box, dice in slide box and a good quantity of bone tally sticks. A truly beautiful set.
